PennDesign was recently awarded a grant to fund their Humanities + Urbanism + Design Initiative, which seeks to promote knowledge of urbanism across the design and humanities disciplines at the University of Pennsylvania. They came to Untuck for logo, collateral and website design for the H+U+D Initiative; they wanted the mark to be urban and also to differentiate it from the governmental HUD agency.
The logo we designed draws on the structure of the city grid for inspiration. The grid especially evokes a sense of urbanism and design, and the colors represent a range of ideas from all three of the three core areas. The simple business card design incorporates a grid pattern and is clean but also playful and energetic.
